Tantalizing Stitches is dedicated to the welfare of animals. For that reason, El donates a portion of her proceeds to animal charity. In particular, El donates 15% of the purchase price of all her handmade items and 5% of the purchase price of all supplies in her artfire shop.

In addition, to support other artists and crafters who are dedicated to the welfare of animals, El created the Crafting for Animals Guild on Artfire. As guild master, El attempts to create a space for animal lovers across the world united by craft.

El is also a member of EFA (etsy for animals): artists helping animals. In 2008, El was co-leader of EFA and managed a very successful Birthday Bash Coupon promotion for the EFA members.

Why is TS dedicated to animals?

In actuality TS was born and inspired by two cute but sickly puppies, Brownie and Blacky.

On June 13, 2007, two stray puppies landed on El’s driveway. With their affectionate eyes, they begged for her help. After contemplating what to do, El decided to take them in, get them cleaned up, bring them back to health, and find them a home.

On June 15, 2007, El took the two puppies to the veterinarian and had them dewormed, treated for mange, and properly nourished. The veterinarian was kind enough to watch over them for the weekend free of charge to ensure their health stabilizes and to prevent the spread of mange to El’s other pets. The bill, however, amounted to $335.13.

Because of the expenses incurred and due to the constant suggestion that El sell her craft, Tantalizing Stitches was born!
